Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon/ Head & Neck/ Reconstructive Surgeon
Mr. Sat Parmar graduated from the University of Leeds, School of Dentistry in 1986 where he was awarded prizes in Oral surgery, Children's Dentistry and Prosthetics.
After working as a Senior House Officer and Registrar in Maxillofacial Surgery he was awarded the Fellowship in Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1990.
He started Medical School at the University of Nottingham in 1990 where he was awarded a BMedSci in 1993. He graduated in Medicine in 1995 winning the Gold Medal for the best Medical student of the year and the Marsden Prize for outstanding contribution to the University of Nottingham.
He completed his basic surgical training and achieved the Fellowship for Surgeons in General of The Royal College of Surgeons in 1998.
He was appointed to the Trent Maxillofacial training programme in 1998 and achieved his Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2002.
He was appointed as an Oral and Maxillofacial /Head and Neck /Reconstructive Surgeon at the University Hospital of Birmingham in 2003.
He is actively involved in teaching dental/medical students, general medical and dental practitioners as well as trainees in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is a course instructor for Advanced Trauma and Life Support (ATLS), Trauma skills, Dentist on the Ward courses. He also lectures on the Birmingham Head and Neck course and the Coventry Head and Neck course.
He is a council member for the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO).
His NHS practice is based at the University Hospital Birmingham (Queen Elizabeth and Selly Oak Hospitals) where he operates on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. His outpatient cancer clinic is on a Wednesday afternoon. He has a NHS clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on a Wednesday morning.
His private clinic is based at the Priory (BMI) Hospital in Edgbaston, Birmingham but also operates from the Nuffield Hospital in Edgbaston, Little Aston Hospital in and The Parkway Hospital in Solihull.
He carries out most aspects of general Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery but his sub-specialist interest is Salivary Gland/Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstruction.
He is registered with both the General Medical and Dental Councils. He is a Fellow of the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) and is a member of the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO).
He is a keen SCUBA diver and skier.
